What is the cost of installation?

What is the cost of installation?

The installation cost for an Airwire Broadband connection depends on several factors. In many cases, the charge is zero (free) – but this applies only under certain conditions. Below are the details to help you understand when you might need to pay and how much.

When installation is free

Airwire advertises free installation with many of its plans, especially for their home broadband / FTTH services in areas like Bangalore.
Some of the plans (“Silver”, “Gold”, “Diamond” etc.) include “Free installation *” as a feature.

When you may need to pay for installation

Even though many plans offer free installation, there are cases in which installation fees might apply:

  1. Location or Feasibility Issues
If your address is in an area where infrastructure is not immediately available, or extra work is needed (running fiber over longer distance, installing additional wiring, etc.), there may be a fee or special costs.

  2. Existing Infrastructure
If there’s already fiber / FTTH in place (say, in your building or nearby), then installation is easier and may remain free. But if the provider needs to deploy new fiber line, trenching, or any major groundwork, costs could be involved.

  3. Extra Equipment
Sometimes additional equipment (e.g. router, Wi-Fi extender, power backup – if not included) might cost extra. Even if installation labour is free, “on-site equipment” costs may not always be included.

  4. Special Plans or Contract Terms
Some promotional or bundled plans may explicitly include “free installation” but only if you commit to a certain contract duration (e.g., 6 months, 12 months or more). If you choose a short term or non-standard plan, there might be an installation charge.

Typical “free installation” offers by Airwire (Bangalore / Karnataka)

  • Many home plans in Bengaluru show “Free installation *” noted in the plan descriptions (for Silver, Gold, Diamond tiers etc.).

  • The “free installation” is often accompanied by extra features (for example free voice service, UPS / WiFi UPS, etc.) in some plan tiers.

What you should check / ask

To avoid surprises, you should clarify the following when you apply:

  • Is the installation fee truly zero, or are there hidden charges for wiring, cabling or for bringing fiber to your building?

  • Does “free installation” require a minimum contract length?

  • Does the plan include the router / modem, or is that extra?

  • Will there be any charges for special structural modifications (long cable runs, drilling, etc.) for your premise?

  • Also check whether taxes, security deposits, or other fees are separate.

    Scenarios:

  • Scenario A: You live in an apartment in Bangalore, with fiber ducts already laid in the building. You opt for the “Silver” plan. Likely free installation.

  • Scenario B: You live in a new complex or further away, and Airwire has to install new fiber cable or bring infrastructure from the nearest road. In this case, there may be a charge.

  • Scenario C: You choose a promotional short-term plan or month-to-month plan: “free installation” may not apply; there may be set-up fees.
