How do I reset my router?
Resetting your router can often resolve connectivity issues, restore settings, or help improve performance. At Airwire Broadband, we recommend two types of resets depending on your situation: a soft reboot and a factory reset. Here's how to perform both:
1. Soft Reboot (Simple Restart)
A soft reboot refreshes your connection without deleting any settings. This is useful if your internet is slow or intermittently dropping.
Steps to perform a soft reboot:
-
Unplug your router from the power socket.
-
Wait 30 seconds.
-
Plug it back in and wait 1–2 minutes for it to fully restart.
-
Check if your internet connection has been restored.
This process clears temporary issues and often resolves common connectivity problems.
2. Factory Reset (Full Reset to Default Settings)
Only perform a factory reset if you're experiencing persistent problems or have been advised by Airwire support. This will erase all custom settings, including Wi-Fi network names (SSID), passwords, and parental controls.
Steps to perform a factory reset:
-
Locate the reset button on the back of your router (it’s usually a small, recessed hole).
-
Use a paperclip or pointed object to press and hold the reset button for 10–15 seconds until the lights blink or the router restarts.
-
Release the button and wait 2–3 minutes for the router to fully reboot.
-
After the reset, your router will return to factory default settings. You’ll need to reconfigure your Wi-Fi network name and password.
If you're not sure how to set up your router after a reset, our support team can guide you through the process or send you a setup guide based on your router model.
