Is the ₹449/-* price inclusive of taxes?

 What “₹ 449/-*” likely means

  • The “*” next to a price is commonly used by service providers (especially ISPs) to indicate that there are additional terms or fees (taxes, installation charges, surcharges, etc.).

  • In the case of Airwire (Bangalore / Karnataka), their official website  www.airwirebb.com explicitly states “Taxes extra” on their plan listings.

  • That wording (“Taxes extra”) strongly implies that GST (and possibly other levies) are not included in the base listed price.

Therefore, it is very likely that the ₹ 449/-* is the base amount before adding GST and any applicable charges.

Why the base price usually excludes GST

  • In India, telecom / broadband / internet services are subject to GST (Goods and Services Tax) and possibly other regulatory or local charges.

  • Many ISPs show a “listed rate” (ex-GST) and then add the tax at billing time.

  • The “*” is a clue to check the fine print, which often says “taxes extra / as applicable.”

In fact, Airwire’s own site for “Internet Plans” uses the phrase “Taxes extra” along with the plan benefits.

So you would not pay just ₹ 449 — you will pay ₹ 449 + taxes + any extra charges.

What to check and confirm for your case

To be absolutely sure, before you commit, do the following:

  1. Ask the ISP directly
Ask: “Is ₹ 449 the final amount I’ll be billed, or will you add GST / other charges?”

  2. Request a sample invoice or billing breakdown
Check whether the invoice shows “taxes” or “GST” as a line item.

  3. Read the terms & conditions / fine print
Usually the ISP’s T&C or pricing section will explicitly state that “taxes, installation, surcharges as applicable will be extra.”

  4. Check your locality / state regulations
In some regions, there may be additional local charges or surcharges beyond GST.

Given that:

  • Airwire’s website says “Taxes extra” in the plan listings.

  • The presence of “*” suggests additional charges beyond base price

  • It is standard practice for broadband providers in India to list base rates excluding GST

It is almost certain that ₹ 449/-* is not inclusive of GST. The actual amount you pay will include GST plus any other levies applicable by law or local policy.
