What Lights Should Be On My Router?

Your router’s indicator lights provide helpful information about your internet connection and whether your Airwire Broadband service is working properly. While different router models may have slightly different indicators, the general function of the lights is consistent. Here’s what each light means and what you should normally see:

1. Power Light

  • What it indicates: Whether the router is turned on and receiving power.

  • Normal status: Solid green or white

  • If it's off or red:

    • Make sure the power adapter is securely plugged in.

    • Check the power socket or try a different one.

    • If it remains red, it may indicate a hardware issue.

2. Internet/DSL Light (sometimes labeled WAN)

  • What it indicates: Whether the router is connected to the internet.

  • Normal status: Solid green or white

  • If it's blinking: The router is trying to establish a connection.

  • If it's off or red:

    • There may be a service outage.

    • Check that all cables are properly connected.

    • Restart the router.

    • If the issue persists, contact Airwire support.

3. LAN (Ethernet) Lights

  • What it indicates: Active wired connections to computers, smart TVs, or other devices.

  • Normal status: Solid or blinking green when devices are connected via Ethernet.

  • If off: No Ethernet devices are connected or those devices are turned off.

4. Wi-Fi / Wireless Light

  • What it indicates: Status of your Wi-Fi signal.

  • Normal status: Solid or blinking green/blue

  • If off:

    • Wi-Fi may be disabled (check your router settings).

    • The router might be in bridge/modem-only mode.

    • Try restarting the router.

5. WPS Light (if available)

  • What it indicates: Whether WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) is active, used for quick device pairing.

  • Normal status: Off (unless you're actively using WPS).

  • If blinking: WPS is in pairing mode (lasts a couple of minutes).

  • If solid: A device has successfully connected via WPS.

6. Signal Light / Broadband Light (on some models)

  • What it indicates: Quality of the broadband signal (especially for 4G/5G routers).

  • Normal status: Green or blue

  • If red or flashing: Weak or no signal detected.

Quick Troubleshooting Tips

  • Restart your router if the internet light is off or red.

  • Double-check that all cables are firmly connected.

  • Keep your router in an open space to improve signal.
