How often is network maintenance performed?

At Airwire Broadband, network maintenance is essential to ensure that our customers enjoy a fast, stable, and secure internet experience. While we strive to keep disruptions to a minimum, some maintenance is necessary to keep our infrastructure operating at its best.

 Types of Network Maintenance

We carry out two main types of maintenance:

1. Scheduled (Planned) Maintenance

This includes routine upgrades and system improvements to ensure long-term performance and reliability.

  • Frequency: Scheduled maintenance is typically performed once every few weeks, depending on the region and network load.

  • Time: We carry out most planned maintenance during off-peak hours (usually between midnight and 6:00 AM) to minimize customer impact.

  • Notice: Customers are usually notified in advance by email or SMS, especially if there will be any noticeable service interruption.

Common tasks include software upgrades, hardware replacements, capacity expansion, and fibre routing improvements.

2. Emergency or Unscheduled Maintenance

This occurs when unexpected issues arise that require immediate attention, such as:

  • Faulty equipment

  • Weather-related damage

  • Cybersecurity threats

  • Network congestion or outages

  • Frequency: Performed as needed—these are less predictable but are prioritised to restore normal service as quickly as possible.

  • Notice: If feasible, we notify affected customers, but in emergencies, restoration takes precedence over notice.

 How You’ll Be Informed

We make every effort to communicate maintenance updates through:

  • Status updates on airwire.ie/status

  • Email or SMS notifications (if your contact details are up to date)

  • Social media channels, where applicable

We recommend keeping your contact information current in our system so you don't miss important alerts.

 Will My Service Be Affected?

While most maintenance work is completed without any noticeable impact, some tasks may require temporary service interruptions or reduced speeds. If downtime is expected:

  • It is usually brief (less than 30–60 minutes)

  • It will be scheduled during low-usage hours

If you experience issues outside of scheduled maintenance times, please contact support so we can investigate.

 Why Maintenance Matters

Regular maintenance helps us:

  • Improve network speed and reliability

  • Expand capacity for growing customer demand

  • Fix vulnerabilities and protect your data

  • Prevent outages before they happen

We’re continuously investing in our infrastructure so you can enjoy a seamless internet experience.

Summary

  • Scheduled maintenance usually occurs every few weeks, during off-peak hours.

  • Emergency maintenance is done as needed to resolve urgent issues.

  •  Customers are notified in advance whenever possible.

  •  Maintenance ensures better performance, stability, and security.
